How bad does the weather have to get before a cruise is cancelled?

The ships Master will always take cognisance of the prevailing weather and sea state conditions before setting sail and we reserve the right to amend or alter the itinerary to ensure maximum comfort and safety of the vessel and her guests. In most instances our cruises take advantage of sheltered cruising grounds with many various ports of call which can be offered as alternate destinations in the unlikely event of a change due to weather. It is extremely unlikely for a cruise to be cancelled due to inclement weather. Our cruises to St Kilda and Orkney do however require a long range forecast of settled weather to make the crossings to the archipelagos, and there is no sheltered harbour on St Kilda so the ship must lie to anchor. Any foreseen change to the cruise itinerary will wherever possible be notified to guests in advance of the departure date.
